It seems logical. We're sporting mom bodies. We don't always have time to blow dry our hair, apply make-up, perhaps even shower.
We want photos of our kids to treasure not photos of ourselves.
But think of a treasured photo you have of yourself with your mom.
We all want photographic evidence of the people who raised us. The person we can thank for our beautiful hair and hopeless math skills. Who volunteered as lunch monitor and parent reader. Who cried with us on the first day of pre-school and on us the day of our high school graduation.
If you won't do it for yourself, do it for your kids.
When you book the yearly photo of your adorable little ones or the milestone session for graduation, come ready to get in a few photos.
Take a shower, dry your hair the way you like it, put on make-up. Wear something pretty and comfortable. Not too fussy. Not perishable. In a color tone that compliments the outfit of your child or young adult.
Getting into a picture or two doesn’t mean you have to buy a framed print to hang in your living room.
Chances are you will treasure a portrait showing you holding your tiny baby, playing with your toddlers, or standing beside the son who has grown a head taller than you.
But if it’s not the case, don’t buy it this time.
If you get into a photo or two every time, I promise there will be few keepsakes along the way.
If you keep waiting for this or that to change before you get in front of the camera, you never will.
You have to drive the kids to the photo shoot anyway!
